Metajna – peace, nature and beaches without crowds
Metajna je malo, autentično mjesto na sjeveroistočnoj strani otoka Paga koje odiše mirom, jednostavnošću i tradicionalnim načinom života. Smještena u blizini Novalje, ali dovoljno udaljena od njezine užurbane atmosfere, Metajna je idealna destinacija za obiteljski odmor, ljubitelje prirode i sve one koji traže opuštanje daleko od gužvi.
The property is 2 minutes from the beach and 5 minutes’ walk from the centre where restaurants, shops and a bakery are located. The famous Ručica beach is 20 minutes’ walk or 4 minutes’ drive away, and Beritnica beach is a 30-minute walk along the famous Life on Mars trail. The property is accessible by car. From Zadar airport the distance is 1 hour and 20 minutes by car.
The island of Pag, including Metajna, has excellent transport connections to the mainland. In season, ferries on the mainland (Prizna) – Pag island (Žigljen) route run around the clock, while at other times of the year ferries run 15 times daily in both directions. In addition to the ferry, you can also reach the island of Pag from the south by road via the Pag bridge. Numerous bus lines connect Novalja with almost all parts of Croatia, and a daily fast catamaran service connects it with Rab and Rijeka.
Quiet fishing and family village
Metajna was once a typical fishing settlement and has retained that spirit to this day. Narrow streets, stone houses and a small harbour where fishing boats are moored create an authentic Mediterranean atmosphere. The local population has traditionally been engaged in fishing, sheep farming and the production of the famous Pag cheese, which remains an important part of the village's identity.
Unlike well-known tourist centres, Metajna offers peace, safety and a relaxed pace of life, making it a perfect choice for families with children. The sea is crystal clear, the environment is preserved, and the atmosphere is unobtrusive and natural. Metajna beaches – natural beauty and peace
Područje Metajne poznato je po svojim divljim, prirodnim plažama koje se protežu duž kamenite obale i skrivaju u brojnim uvalama. Većina plaža je šljunčana ili kamenita, s izuzetno čistim morem i bez velikih gužvi.
Ručica beach
Plaža Ručica jedna je od najpoznatijih i najljepših plaža na otoku Pagu. Smještena nedaleko od samog mjesta, ova šljunčana plaža okružena je dramatičnim, gotovo “mjesečevim” krajolikom. Kristalno čisto more, sitni obluci i potpuni izostanak urbanizacije čine je idealnim mjestom za opuštanje i uživanje u prirodi. Ručica je često polazišna točka za istraživanje okolnih uvala i staza, a njezina netaknuta ljepota ostavlja snažan dojam na posjetitelje.
Life on Mars Trail – unique landscapes
One of the greatest attractions in this area is the famous Life on Mars trail, which starts right in Metajna. It is one of the most unique and beautiful trail routes in Croatia, known for its unique landscape that resembles the surface of Mars. The trail passes through rugged, rocky terrain shaped by strong bora wind and salt, with spectacular views of Velebit and the blue sea.

- multiple routes of varying lengths (from a few to over 15 km)
- circular routes returning to Metajna
- passing by some of the most beautiful beaches on Pag: Ručica, Beritnica, Slana and others
- gotovo potpuni izostanak hlada – tipičan “goli” paški krajolik
Another highlight of the trail is the first sea via ferrata in Croatia, approximately 100 metres long, which allows for an adrenaline crossing above the sea.
Besides the natural beauty, the trail provides a sense of complete freedom and isolation – a combination of rock, sea and silence that is rare on the Adriatic.
